Canada's public charging network has grown quickly — but growth alone doesn't solve the access problem. Even as charge points multiply, model-compatible charging remains a real barrier for a lot of EV owners and fleet operators.
Three standards, one problem
North America currently runs on three separate charging standards: NACS, CCS, and CHAdeMO. Momentum is shifting toward NACS as more manufacturers adopt it, but without a mandate, that transition will be slow — and it does nothing for the micromobility fleets that are already dealing with even more fragmented, brand-specific charging access than passenger EVs.

The case for going wireless
Independent research from McKinsey has found that wireless charging for EVs is both safer and more efficient than standard plug-in charging, while opening a real path toward standardization across brands and jurisdictions that plug-based systems have struggled to achieve.
We think that conclusion holds. Without a physical plug tying one vehicle to one connector, a single charging unit can serve far more vehicles across a day — better utilization, a smaller infrastructure footprint, less external maintenance, and a safer experience for everyone using it.
Where we're headed
That thinking is the reason Wireless PnC exists. We've since moved from prototype to real pilot deployments — outdoor validation at Centennial College, higher-power testing at Ontario Tech, and lab demonstrations at the University of Victoria — each one testing the same idea: charging should be as simple as parking.
